Your surgeon can place your breast implants through inframammary incisions, which are made along the creases between your chest and the bottom of your breasts. This is the most popular incision placement because it gives your surgeon good access to your breast tissue during surgery, but some women may dislike the scar placement.

Advantages of inframammory incision

• The scars can be well hidden by your bra or bikini, as well as the fold of your breasts.
• Your surgeon has good control over your implant placement.          
• It’s the best, and sometimes only, incision option for larger sized implants.         
• The incisions can be reopened in future surgeries, so you won’t have additional scars.
• There is little to no risk of nerve damage that can decrease your breast or nipple sensitivity, and bleeding during surgery is usually minimal.

Disadvantages

• It’s hard to change your implant size later because the bottom creases of your breasts can move, causing your scars to move up onto your breasts, or lower onto your chest.
• It can be challenging to place the incisions properly if your natural breasts are small and your breast creases aren’t well defined. 
• The scars may be more noticeable when you’re undressed, or if your breasts don’t form a well-defined fold.
