How breast implant removal is performed

Your implants are surrounded by capsules of natural fibrous scar tissue, and your surgeon may also remove these capsules if they are overly thick or calcified. Your incisions are then closed, usually with dissolvable stitches.

You may choose to also have breast lift surgery at the time of your implant removal to rejuvenate the appearance of your natural breasts. Your surgeon will make incisions around your areolas, remove excess breast skin, and may also raise the position of your nipples and areolas. The size and placement of the incisions can vary depending on how much tissue is removed.

Recovery

Most women can return to their normal activities after two to three days. If you also have a breast lift, then you may need to rest for around a week and avoid strenuous activity for about one month. You will have some pain, swelling, and discomfort, but this should subside after a few days.
